​Job Description: The position of Neighborhood Green Steward is intended to provide regular, onsite stewardship of Green City Coalition sites. This hourly, seasonal position will prioritize applicants who live in the neighborhood where the specific GCC site is located. Applicants should possess some experience with general landscaping (especially native landscapes), or a willingness to learn. Applicants should also be able to promote GCC's mission of converting vacant land into community greenspace that promotes biodiversity, access to nature, and climate resilience. 

Position Information: 

Season: The GCC Neighborhood Green Steward Positions for 2026 have all been filled are we are currently not hiring any more applicants for 2026. You are welcome to apply to be considered for 2027!

Hours: 1 to 5 hours weekly, flexible schedule

Rate: $30 per hour

Tasks: Watering, weeding, tree and native plant maintenance, debris removal, possible mowing, and other tasks as required.

Location: Green City Coalition priority neighborhoods in North City St. Louis

Requirements: We will provide required tools (except for larger equipment like lawn mowers) and required training. We will not provide transportation. Applicants must be 18 years old or older. Please note that preference will be given based on where applicants live. In order to support the neighborhoods we work in, we prioritize hiring from those neighborhoods. Proof of residency may be required.
